“The roots of effective leadership lie in simple things, one of which is listening. Listening to someone demonstrates respect; it shows that you value their ideas and are willing to hear them.” – John Baldoni

Stop having the answer for everyone. Many times, people do not need you to fix their problem, they simply need you to know about it. All too often, we are so preoccupied internally with giving them the solution, thus elevating ourselves, that we fail to truly hear their words, thus elevating them. Even if you have a solution to their problem, sometimes we serve them best by simply listening. If you tend to solve the problem before actually hearing the problem – stop.
